Portolan
The Pine's reserved course.
Portolan draws inspiration from the four Maritime Republics — Amalfi, Pisa, Genoa and Venice — and from that civilization of commerce that knew how to open new markets, give itself rules and measure risk. From the maritime law of the Amalfi Tables to the ledger discipline that Luca Pacioli, in Venice in 1494, called simply il modo de Vinegia — the Venice method — this heritage of navigation, accounting and balance lives on today in The Pine's Oriented Growth vision.
Portolan is active by mandate only. The Assessment is the first passage: it shapes the Listening and, only then, opens the shared workspace.

Clients on an active mandate
Portolan is part of The Space. Access is reserved for The Pine clients on an active mandate.
The instrument of growing for generations.
Four dimensions of orientation
The Pine works through four dimensions. Together, they form a way to understand what is changing, what is being heard, where growth may lead and what must remain in balance.
What is changing?
The transfer of value and of shares: authority, ownership and continuity moving between generations.
What are you listening to?
Business intelligence: reading data, signals and markets before change becomes visible.
Where could the next horizon be?
Growth and expansion: new demand, new geographies, new capabilities.
What must remain in balance?
The movement that keeps the enterprise in geostationary orbit around its own centre.

At the root of PINE
Growing for Generations
from Heisenberg to the Space Economy.
The four PINE dimensions — Passage, Intelligence, New Markets, Equilibrium — come from the book from which The Pine begins: a handbook for family enterprises and founders on growth, transformation and continuity across generations.

Portolan is used by active clients as a structured environment for an ongoing mandate. It preserves what has been heard, clarified and decided over time, allowing the work to remain coherent as the territory changes.
For those who are not yet clients, Portolan is an introduction to the method. The first step is not access to the workspace. The first step is the Assessment.
For those beginning their journey with The Pine, the Assessment is the first passage. From what emerges, the Listening takes shape and, only then, the shared work environment opens.
Begin the first passage
The Assessment is the first opportunity to understand what is changing, what deserves attention and whether a conversation with The Pine is the right next step.
